Our Vision

At Pilton Community College, we believe that everyone is capable of self-transformation and we actively promote the view that success is gained through hard work and commitment to learning. We are determined to achieve the best possible educational outcomes for our students, in order to prepare them for the challenges of life as young adults. Our key aim is to support our young people to develop the skills and abilities that will enable them all to succeed and to realise their hopes and dreams. We recognise the importance of preparing them for further and higher education according to individual needs and interests, as well as supporting them to succeed in the world of work. We believe that education has a pivotal role in helping shape aspirations and in addressing issues of inequality.

Our vision is to have a school community in which we:

• Continuously review and develop our practice to ensure that we are providing the highest possible
quality of teaching and learning;
• Are passionate about ensuring that educational is transformational;

• Are clear that education has the power to help young people overcome disadvantage and achieve their dreams;

• Are highly aspirational, setting the highest standards and expectations and continually striving for excellence;

• Offer an appropriate curriculum (collaborating with other educational settings where necessary) that meets the needs of all our young people and prepares them for their next steps in life;

• Actively promote the development and understanding of British values so that our young people value and engage with democracy, respect the rule of law and appreciate the richness and diversity of our modern society.

• Through our high levels of knowledge and understanding of our student body, work to remove barriers to learning that may arise from issues within or outside of school;

• Are an inclusive organisation that welcomes diversity in the student body and combats discrimination in all its forms;

• Take an active part in communities so that we are strengthening relationships beyond the school gates;

• Are responsive to issues facing local communities in order to prepare our young people to flourish as 21st century citizens and life-long learners.
