Facilities and grounds

Pilton Community College is situated on the outskirts of Barnstaple in a pleasant residential area. The school is ideally located, being close to the Braunton Road where public transport can be easily accessed, and is within walking distance of the town centre and bus station. The site is some seven miles from the Atlantic coast beaches and twelve miles from the Exmoor National Park in an area of outstanding scenic beauty.

A cycle path/pedestrian walk way crosses our land and links the Tarka Trail/Braunton Road with Abbey Road/Chaddiford Lane, providing a safe route into school for students.

We are fortunate in having storage for a fleet of twenty mountain bikes which are used extensively by the PE Department with students who learn to ride using the Tarka Trail.

The original school was opened in 1964 and has been extended considerably since then.  A state of the art 10 laboratory science block and a modern languages suite have been in built in recent years and original buildings have been modernised to ensure our accommodation is fit for today’s high standards.
